Keyword research and analysis is the first stage in proper Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts.

So, for your entire SEO campaign to prosper, your keyword research and analysis should be done correctly from the start.

Otherwise, the impact of your SEO campaign will fizzle out and be negligible.

Work with, not against, search engines

The first thing you have to remember keyword research and analysis is that you should not employ tactics that aim to fool the search engines. You should cooperate with search engines rather than work against them.

  1. Place your keyword in the heading and/or page titles – It is very important that you make an effort to integrate your keyword and key phrases in the heading and/ or page titles of your page, rather than locate the keyword somewhere within the body or end of the document. This is because the search engine will perceive web pages that have key words and key phrases in their headings and page titles as possessing more relevance to the search term used, rather than when you place your keyword and key phrases deep within the body of the text.
  2. Use key words to describe what your web page is about – when people do a search for a certain term and results come out, it is more likely that they will go to your page if it has specific words that indicate what your web page is devoted to. For example, if you simply use the word RICE to start off your web page, it is not very likely that many people will choose to look at the rest of your web page since the keyword is very general. However, if you use the words THE MANY VARIETIES OF RICE IN THE PHILIPPINES, then it is more likely that people will choose to look at the rest of your text – because the title shows that you are trying to give very specific information. It gets even better if you manage to narrow down your title to THE MANY VARIETIES OF RICE IN THE PHILIPPINES THAT THRIVE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER.
  3. Use various different key words and key phrases – Since people employ different means in the search process, the chances that your web page will show up in the leading results improve if you rely on different key words and key phrases to describe the text of your web page. So, it is important that you have a clear idea of what key words and key phrases would probably be used by a person searching on the Internet.

These are just some tips in keyword research and analysis that you should follow. But remember, the paramount rule in keyword research and analysis is: work with search engines, not against them. This will make your SEO campaign proceed with better end results.
